283 - The Journey of Finding Yourself as an Artist with Jamie Drake

There’s nothing worse for a creative than feeling like you’re off your path. Do you know that feeling of being ungrounded, untethered and unable to find the pulse of your work? How do you get back on the path and into that pocket of flow, where you’re center? I am a big believer that the creative journey often goes hand and hand with the journey of personal discovery, liberation and breakthrough. This conversation with Jamie Drake is such a beautiful testament to this idea. In 2019, Jamie released her debut album “Everything’s Fine”. This record captures the creative journey so fully, that I was desperate to get her on the show to dive deep into the process of arriving at this gorgeous creative statement. HUGE thanks to Jamie for being so gracious with her time and her story. This conversation is deeply personal and is such a gift to our community! THANK YOU JAMIE! 280 - Which of The 6 Creative Types Are You?

You wouldn’t get very far as a basketball player, if you played by the rules of soccer. Can you imagine? Trying to play without touching the ball with your hands? It’d be ridiculous! Actually impossible! And yet, in your creativity, you let other people’s creative rules and values make you feel disqualified all the time. You’ve heard it before “the only rule in creativity is that there are no rules”, so why do we constantly feel like imposters who are “doing it wrong”? I have a hypothesis: Because we don’t realize that creativity means very different things to each and every artist. We all define and value creativity extremely differently, but I don’t think we realize this. In this episode I want to help you figure out what creativity is about for you. When you start to figure out why YOU love creative work, you can let go of what OTHERS think it’s about and thrive in your own way. This episode is one of my favorites we’ve ever made and I think you’re gonna love it!!! This is pa…
